Independent Study Courses Now Eligible for Staff Tuition Assistance

Online courses and distance learning courses offered through KU Independent Study are now eligible for tuition assistance on a case-by-case basis. Staff members will use the existing Human Resources/Equal Opportunity tuition assistance application process to apply for assistance for Independent Study courses.

KU Independent Study offers more than 150 KU credit courses through online and distance learning. Students can enroll and begin their course at any time and take up to six months to finish. Applications for the Tuition Assistance Program will need to be completed in accordance with the established deadlines. Future awards through the program will be contingent upon completion of past supported Independent Study courses.

Undergraduate and graduate courses are available through a wide range of departments. Students can learn at their own pace on their own time, making Independent Study an excellent option for students who have work, family and other commitments at the same time they are taking classes.

"Independent Study courses offer tremendous flexibility for working adults. We are delighted to partner with Human Resources/Equal Opportunity to make tuition assistance available for staff who qualify," said Jean Yoo, Interim Director of Independent Study.
